Beginning work for the Master's Degree as an Undergraduate
Rutgers Undergraduates showing exceptional promise may begin their MS
work before obtaining their BS degree. In this way, graduate courses may be
taken at the undergraduate tuition. Furthermore, students showing adequate
performance in graduate courses as an undergraduate may be admitted to the
MS without being required to take the GRE. In order to be counted towards the MS degree, courses taken by undergraduates must not be used to satisfy the
BS requirements. These courses taken before matriculation as a graduate
student must then be transferred to the graduate transcript according to the rules for the transfer of credits from other universities.
Undergraduates interested in pursuing this opportunity should consult with the
director of the undergraduate program in Statistics and Biostatistics.
Students are encouraged to use Summer school, especially following the
junior and senior years, to ensure their courses are completed on
schedule. Many core MS courses are offered over the summer.
Summer school tuition rates are discounted
from regular undergraduate tuition rates and some courses are offered
during the evening.
